Summary:
Watertown High School is seeking an outstanding candidate to provide support as an Administrative Assistant: Attendance Coordinator in our main office of the high school. This position requires maintaining confidential student information and records, communicating with students and parents, and supporting and upholding the high school’s attendance policy. This position additionally is responsible for maintaining the main office area and assisting students, staff, and visitors entering the office.
Responsibilities:
- Use student information system to record student attendance (tardiness, dismissals, absences)
- Update student records to match attendance records
- Answer attendance phone calls and emails; monitor online attendance/dismissal reports
- Communicate with staff and families about student attendance and attendance policies
- Collect and record documents and data related to student absences
- Manage early dismissals for all students, including interfacing with parents/guardians and staff
- Coordinate attendance-related mailings
- Manage credit loss notifications
- Monitor student tardy line (in main lobby)
- Cover other administrative assistants as necessary
- Monitor students who are asked to stay in the attendance office
Qualifications - Required
- Ability to work well with the community at-large, including parents, students, and staff
- Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary,work with students, demonstrating broad understanding, tolerance, and acceptance of them
- Ability to utilize problem-solving skills
- Effectively organize, manage, and direct the work of others; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships
- Experience working with children and/or teenagers and parents
- Associate’s degree
- Basic computer skills
- Knowledge of general office management, procedures, and machines
Qualifications - Preferred
- Experience working with students in grades 9-12
- Knowledge of second language, Spanish or Portuguese preferred
