Hours: 8:00- 12:30, Students 8:30- 12:00, Monday- Thursday, July 7th- July 31st (Administrative work before and after)
General Description:
The Assistant Director will oversee various administrative and instructional responsibilities for the Summer Success Literacy Program. The role involves analyzing student data, assisting with ESL registration, tracking attendance, managing substitutes, and ensuring Title III compliance. The Assistant Director will also handle parent communication and support both literacy and math instruction.
Responsibilities:
- Help analyze data to identify and develop student groupings
- Help with registration for all summer ESL students
- Track data to meet Title III requirements
- Attendance
- Parent Communication- ongoing throughout summer
- On-Site during all the sessions in one location, every day
- Managing substitutes-teacher absences
- Managing building based needs (safety, scheduling, etc)
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Experience working with elementary grade students.
- Experience teaching ELs and modifying curriculum to meet all learners needs
- Familiarity with best practices in balanced literacy instruction, and is confident modeling instruction when needed
- Holds the belief that all children can learn to read and write effectively.
- Familiar with the elementary math curriculum in order to help coordinate math tutors
Preferred:
- A current Massachusetts ESL and/or Reading Teaching License/Certification at the Elementary level is preferred
- Additional certification/experience in ESL, reading, or literacy, preferred.
