Position: Summer Explorations Program Behavior Support Specialist (1 position only) Location: Hosmer Elementary School in Watertown, MA
Dates: July 8, 2024 - August 16, 2024 (Mandatory orientation meeting June 11, 2024 from 6:15 pm - 7:30 pm) Schedule: Full Day Shift 8:15 AM - 5:45 PM Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and implement student IEPs and Behavior plans as relevant to the program.
- Create individual student support plans that meet the needs of the students within our program. The support plans may include planned break schedules, calm-down routines, verbal and non-verbal cues, visual schedules, etc.
- Work directly with one specific student, multiple student(s), and/or to assist with an entire group depending on student and program needs.
- Track student behaviors and supports and maintain ABC data.
- Provide support and guidance to group Lead Instructors and/or Assistant Instructors to best meet the needs of the students in their group.
- Provide Safety Care Support as needed.
- Work collaboratively with the Community Education Director, Community Education Assistant Director, to ensure that activities and experiences are adapted so that each student can access the program in a way that is best suited to their individual needs and strengths.
- Assist students with personal care tasks as needed which may include toileting, diapering, feeding, etc.
- Assist as needed with other tasks needed to support the program including but not limited to student drop off and pick up, staff break coverage, etc.
- The Behavior Support Specialist may also be assigned other duties by the Site Coordinator or Community Education Director or Assistant Director.
Professional Commitment: The Behavior Support Specialist is required to fulfill the shifts they have committed to.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree and/or 12 months of experience working with school-age children required
- 12 months of experience working with individuals with disabilities required
- Current Safety Care Certification
Annual Professional Development Requirement:
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Safety Care Certification
