Summary:

Watertown Public Schools seeks an exceptional 3rd Grade Teacher with an SEI endorsement who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. This is an exciting opportunity for teachers who desire to serve where their efforts matter. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish classroom structure that values relationships between child to child, child to curriculum, teacher to child, teacher to families and communities, and classrooms to schools through the intentional implementation of appropriate curriculum. Previous experience with/training in Responsive Classroom preferred.
  • Teach content and skills across elementary subjects (Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies) using standards-based curriculum guidelines from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. 
  • Utilize district curriculum materials to design lessons and activities to guide, support,  and challenge all students, including those with disabilities and English language learners.

Curriculum, Planning, and Assessment

  • Demonstrates mastery of and enthusiasm for the content area and the pedagogy it requires
  • Can convey a grasp of child development and how students learn
  • Designs effective and rigorous standards based units of instruction consisting of well-structured lessons with measurable outcomes.
  • Familiarity with any or all of the following programs preferred: Fundations, Wit & Wisdom, Eureka2.

Qualifications:

  • Education:  Bachelor's Degree required, Masters' Degree Preferred
  • Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Elementary Education (Grades 1-6) and the SEI endorsement (OR dual certification in ESL).
  • At least two years of lead teaching experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to children and adults
  • Ability to meet the Standards of Effective Teaching established by the Massachusetts Model System for Educators as outlined above.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
