Summary:
The Watertown Public Schools seeks an extraordinary Secondary Multilingual Learner Instructional Coach to work with teachers in grades 6-12. This full-time position may include the opportunity for a few summer per-diem days.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The responsibilities may include:
- Partner with curriculum coordinator, data/assessment analyst, and teachers in ESL curriculum mapping, assessment creation, and data analysis
- Collaborate with the ESL Director to develop research-based interventions/curriculum for Tier 2 Response to Intervention and supplemental resources
- In collaboration with the director and teachers, map curriculum aligned closely to MA frameworks.
- Lead in-district, embedded professional development
- Non-evaluative EL coach to ESL, Special Ed, and General Ed teachers
- Conducts regular coaching cycles
- Facilitate EL data conversations and meetings
- Attend grade level/department meetings related to ESL, as needed
- Attend outside professional development opportunities, and relay information to colleagues
- Assist teachers with the implementation of Imagine Learning, Book Creator, RAZ Kids (or any other technology), as well as online instruction.
- Collaborate with coordinator and principals on K-12 ESL Program/Curriculum Review

Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Is an accountable team member
- Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with teachers and administrators to set high academic and instructional expectations
- Familiarity with best practices in ESL instruction, and comfortable modeling instruction when needed
- Holds the belief that all children can learn and be successful in learning English as a Supplemental Language
Education/Qualifications:
- A current Massachusetts Teaching License/Certification in ESL, (required)
- SEI Endorsement or ESL Certification, (required)
- Has a passion for ESL teaching and learning
- Five or more successful years of experience teaching ELs at multiple grade bands, (preferred)
- Bilingual candidates are strongly preferred
- Master’s degree, (preferred)
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa (required)
