Title 3 Summer Success Program:

 

Dates: Monday - Thursday, July 8, 2024 - August 1, 2024 (4 days a week for a month)

Location: Hosmer  School

Rate of Pay: $35.00 per hour

Hours: 8:15-12:15 pm includes 30 min of prep a day

Additional days: 1 “day” (4hrs) one 1-hour orientation and includes program set up/clean up time. 

Additional paid time: There may be an additional weekly 30-minute faculty meeting at the discretion of the Director.

Responsibilities:

 

• Teach grouping of students in grades K-8.  (Grouping would not exceed 10)   
• Use Responsive classroom management - morning meeting and closing circle
• Conduct whole group and small group literacy lessons
• Encourage a love of reading and talking about books
• Work with students on writing in response to reading
• Implement the Literacy Camp curriculum and incorporate creative activities as needed 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

•  

  Experience working with elementary and middle school ELs preferred.
• Experience collaborating with colleagues  
• Familiarity with best practices in literacy instruction
• Holds the belief that all children can learn and learn to read and write effectively  
• Familiarity with Responsive Classroom practices, language, and beliefs
• An ability to engage students in using all 4 domains: listening, reading, speaking, and writing 
• Having students engage in academic conversations during every class
• Attend pre-program training and weekly faculty meetings.

 

Education / Experience:

• A current Massachusetts ESL Teaching License/Certification
• Three or more successful years of experience teaching ESL students in literacy preferred
