Position: Before School Program Assistant Teachers
Location: Cunniff, Hosmer, and Lowell Elementary Schools in Watertown, MA
Schedule: Minimum of 2 days/week, Preference for 5 days/week. Shifts are 6:45 AM - 8:15 AM or 7:00 AM - 8:30 AM
Pay Rate: $21.64 - $26.62 per hour based on relevant, job-alike experience
Job Summary:
The goal is to provide as much consistency as possible for the students in the program. Preference will be given to filling the positions listed with staff who are able to work 5 days per week, and/or consistent shifts 2 or 3 days per week. The Before School Program Assistant Instructor is required to fulfill the shifts they have committed to. Staff who are not able to commit to regular, weekly shifts, may be offered positions in a substitute capacity with shifts and location assignments that may vary from week to week.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the Before School Site Coordinator in preparing materials for student activities and setting up/cleaning up activities.
- Provide supervision to students ranging in age/grade from kindergarten through grade 5.
- Ensure a smooth transition for students from the Before School Program to the start of the regular school day.
- The Assistant Teacher may also be assigned other duties by the Site Coordinator or Community Education Director or Assistant Director.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree and 9 months of experience working with school-age children preferred, not required OR
- 6 months of experience working with school-age children and/or working on a degree in a related field
Annual Professional Development Requirement:
- CPR/First Aid Certification
